The Pennsylvania Wanderer
Hello, my name is Alan Kassirer and I live in Harrisburg, PA. I get bored easily so I spend my weekends wandering around Pennsylvania and the surrounding states visiting interesting places and meeting interesting people. I’ve been doing this for years and recently realized that other people might be interested in my travel and my stories. That’s why I started this blog. So now when I wander, I carry a notebook and my new camera and share my experiences right here.
As I wander, I find that certain accessories like my picnic backpack and wine carrier are totally indispensible. For that reason, I suggest you check out Picnic Baskets and More and choose from our complete line of picnic baskets, picnic backpacks, wine carriers, barbecue tools and other items that will make your travel more enjoyable. I’m currently thinking about adding some additional products that I think you’ll find valuable so please check back often.
I also have a great day job that I thought you might be interested in. I’m an executive at Youth Advocate Programs, a large not for profit agency headquartered here in Harrisburg. Our mission is to provide individuals who are, have been or may be subject to compulsory care with the opportunity to develop, contribute and be valued as assets so that communities have safe, proven effective and economical alternatives to institutional placement. I invite you to visit Youth Advocate Programs’ website for more information.
I also enjoy a great cigar. I spend some of my free time hanging out at Tinder Box in Harrisburg, PA and The Tobacco Company in Lemoyne, PA. Drop me a line if you’re in the area and we can hang out and light up.
I invite feedback on this blog through the comments section of each post. I also invite you to contact me through one or more of these other places:

Did you ever get to poast anything about RicketsGlen P.A.?
(I don’t think I spelled the right, sorry)
To the readers, this a beutiful park filled with magnifacent waterfalls.
(I hope Dad will fill in the blanks about it’s location.)
Sorry to all about my spelling!
Alan’s right, Rickett’s Glen State Park is a great place. I’ll visit again in the spring and write about it. I need to wait so I can take some new pictures.
Hi Alan….from your new smoking buddy at TCC
!!!!
Hunters Valley was the first winery we ever stopped at….and we were hooked! We haven’t been there since the new store was being constructed.
…but I’m working on it!! We’ll be looking toward a trip up there soon to stock up, perhaps we could arrange to meet and have a smoke on the deck!
We frequent Shade Mountain Winery in Middleburg. Their Shade Mtn Blush is wonderful, as is their Riesling. I have not yet tried them all….my wine palate has not progressed as far as my cigar palate
Hello Harrisburg Blogger,
Two midtown residents recently started a website, http://www.midtowneats.com, to promote the restaurants in Midtown Harrisburg and to eliminate the need for numerous menus in our junk drawers.
We are reaching out to the Harrisburg blog community, which is why you are getting this message. Since you are already part of a talkative group, we’d like to hear your thoughts.
Our site lists restaurants by category with each restaurant having its own blog post; which includes comments and a rating (1-5 stars). We invite you to post comments and ratings. Please include a link to your blog so our visitors can visit your sites.
If you have any questions, just drop us a line and we will be happy to answer.
Thank you.
